A BIG disappointment

I am honestly not satisfied with your products. Yesterday, I used the products for the first time on my daughter. My daughter has curly hair, type 3b. We have been using various curly girl (CG) methods for years, and I have quite a bit of experience with treating curly hair and using different products. Here is our experience from yesterday:
Shampoo: Doesn’t smell good, but it does clean the hair well (the only positieve experience we had).
Conditioner: Doesn’t smell good, the texture is unpleasant clayish, and it’s very difficult to squeeze out with the provided cap.
Defining Butter: In one word, awful. It’s like clay, unmanageable, and hard to get out of the jar and also to work into the hair. A lot of it stuck to my hands and left small clumps in the hair. It also got everywhere.
Thickening Gel: Very difficult to squeeze out of the bottle, very sticky, not pleasant.
The result was really not what we were hoping for, even though we used the products sparingly and according the directions.

Additionally, the delivery time was really disappointing. We waited over 2 weeks for the delivery (order date 12/14/24, delivery date 30/12/24), even though as it is my understanding that you are based in the Netherlands and we also live in the Netherlands.

This is our first completely negative experience with CG products, and I truly regret this purchase. I don’t mind spending money on hair products for my children, and yes, sometimes things don’t work out as expected, but your products were such a disappointment that I honestly feel it was a waste of my money. Contacted customer service more than 2 weeks ago, still no response…

While we are based in the Netherlands, all of our products are handmade in-house using natural ingredients and without industrial machinery. Because of the delicate nature of our formulations, our production process takes time, which is why we clearly communicate a shipping window of 1 to 10 working days on our website. Your order fell within that timeframe, but we acknowledge that the wait may have felt long during the busy holiday period, and we sincerely apologize if you felt let down.

As for the textures and scents of our products, they are made with 100% natural ingredients and are free from synthetic fragrances or texturizers. This often results in a more earthy, herbal scent — something many of our customers grow to appreciate with continued use. We understand this can be quite different from more conventional or mass-produced products.

In terms of usage, from your message, it sounds like there may have been some misunderstanding about how to best apply the products. For example, our Defining Butter must be melted between the palms before being applied to the hair — it is not intended to be used in its solid form. This step is essential to activate its emollient properties and ensure smooth, even distribution.

To support our customers, especially those who are new to our formulations, we’ve worked with creators like Amber Ansah on YouTube, who has a similar hair texture to your daughter and demonstrates how to effectively use our products step by step. We highly recommend watching her videos for guidance and practical tips.

We’re also deeply sorry to hear that you reached out to our customer service and did not receive a timely response. This is not in line with the standard we strive for, and we’re currently looking into what went wrong to ensure this does not happen again.

Disappointed

I am so upset! I love this butter but the formula has changed. I just realized that the new formula has Sweet Almond oil in it and I am allergic. My scalp has been itching for weeks and I did not know why! I am trying to only buy natural products and this was one of the few butters that works for me. Now I have to take this off my list. I was so excited to re-up on these for the winter months, I bought two of them and now I just wasted my money! Can you please bring back the old formula? Or can you please sell one with almond oil and one without, so that people with allergies can enjoy your products as well?

Love this product!

I appreciate the attention this company has given to create products that are clean and healthy for hair. I’m use to natural ingredients and I love that the smells are earthy and not over powering. That said, this particular product does a great job in defining my 4C hair. It works best for me when my hair is wet or very damp when applying.
